Learn to Surf on Fiji's Coral Coast — Two-Hour Beginner Lesson

Fiji has a reputation for waves that will hurt you. This isn't one of them. Endless Summer take beginners by boat about two hundred metres off the Coral Coast to a lagoon where the swell reforms into clean knee-to-waist-high walls over sand-covered reef — the exact wave you want under you the first time you stand up. You get two hours of instruction with wave assist, meaning someone pushes you into it while you worry about one thing at a time, on an eight or nine-foot soft-top that's built to forgive. Every instructor is certified by the Fiji Surf Association and trained in first aid and resuscitation. One quirk to plan around: the lesson runs on high tide, so your start time moves with the tide, and you'll need to book ahead rather than turn up.
