About this experience
For about six months a year, manta rays feed in the narrow channel beside Mantaray Island Resort, and when the tide is right you can slip off a boat and swim beside them. They are big — often several metres across — and completely uninterested in you, which is exactly what makes it so calm. The swim itself usually lasts thirty minutes to an hour, with three departures a day and guides in the water throughout. Snorkelling gear for the manta swim is provided. Be straight with yourself about one thing: mantas are wild and nobody can promise they'll be in the channel on your day. The resort doesn't pretend otherwise — if none show, you get a discount towards another attempt. Children from five can join with an adult, and you should be a confident enough swimmer for open water.
