Sabeto Hot Springs & Mud Pool — Nadi Half Day (46 chars)

Twenty minutes inland from Nadi, at the end of a valley road that turns to gravel between two villages, sit the Sabeto hot springs. The routine is simple and completely undignified: wade into the mud pool, coat yourself from scalp to ankles in warm grey mineral mud, then stand in the sun until it cracks and dries on your skin. After that you move through a run of natural thermal pools, each one hotter than the last, until the mud is gone and so is every ache you arrived with. Staff are there to help and will happily take the photograph, because you will want the photograph. Allow two to three hours. Bring old swimwear, and bring cash — the gate prefers it. There are changing rooms and toilets but no lockers, so leave anything valuable in the car.
